Interim Head of Operations

Salary: £75,600 – £87,600 per year

Home based.

12 Month Fixed Term Contract – Band 8c.

Reporting to the interim Managing Director, this new role will lead the Care Gateway service and the Urgent and Emergency (UEC) team; and in the interim they will assume responsibility for the Registration Authority and Data Quality teams, all of which provide services to a range of customers. The Head of Operations will also play a lead role in the oversight and development of the Customer Relationship Management Framework.

Job Purpose:

The postholder will be a member of the GMSS Senior Management Team (SMT), leading the Care Gateway service and the Urgent and Emergency (UEC) team; in the interim they will also have responsibility for the Registration Authority and Data Quality teams, all of which provide services to a range of customers. The postholder will also play a lead role in the oversight and development of the Customer Relationship Management Framework.

Key Working Relationships:

This role as a senior manager will need to maintain effective relationships at senior level across the trust, with CCG customers and other potential customer organisation’s board and executive directors. locally in relation to all areas of service together with other corporate functions, liaising effectively at all levels of the customer organisations including board level.

Internally, key relationships will be within the Trust and heads of service.

Communication:

The post holder will be required to build and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders on a range of business sensitive issues, including compliance with performance targets and strategic objectives and input into the development of service delivery measures for the areas of responsibility. Details of communications may be highly sensitive and very contentious and will require negotiation and diplomacy. The postholder will be required to present information and proposals to the public and staff in what may frequently be difficult, large-scale change situations.
Essential Criteria:

• Significant knowledge and experience of shared service provision in the public sector, ideally gained within the NHS
• Proven and significant leadership experience in the NHS, particularly within patient facing service provision
• Proven senior level experience of leading and delivering complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment.
• Experience of successfully operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment
• Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders
