Job Title: IT Infrastructure Engineer (MSP)

Pay Rate (£): Up to £40,000 pro rata (permanent position)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will provide senior-level IT infrastructure and systems engineering support, design, and implementation to clients of a Managed Services Provider and Consultancy. This role serves as the final escalation point for IT issues and requires exceptional technical expertise. The position involves Service Desk support for escalated issues across all levels (Line 1/2/3), occasional after-hours work, on-call support, and site visits. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves direct interaction with non-technical staff.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Provide technical support and engineering for networking infrastructure, contributing to the design, implementation, and security of WAN, LAN, and WLAN.
  • Offer technical support and engineering for servers, services, and applications (virtual and physical) in both on-premise and cloud environments. Contribute to the design, implementation, and security of these systems and services.
  • Advise and assist in the development and deployment of IT security measures across customer IT systems.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Consultant, staff, and other IT suppliers to enhance customers’ network, systems, and security as needed.
  • Perform root cause analysis of technical issues and implement appropriate solutions for business needs.
  • Execute IT projects defined and planned in coordination with the Principal Consultant.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of customers’ disaster and recovery processes.
  • Conduct visits to customer locations for installation, maintenance, and resolution of IT equipment outages and issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation of IT services and operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer equipment, software, and installations.
  • Fulfill other duties as required, consistent with the role and working hours, at the initial place of work or any other customer establishments.

Role Specific Requirements:

  • Valid UK Driving License/Car
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Expertise in HP Servers and SANs, HP Switches, Sophos Security Appliances, Microsoft Servers and Desktops, Office 365, Citrix, VMware, Veeam, Mobile Devices, Azure, and Intune.
