Hybrid System Design Functional Safety Engineer

An innovative engineering company, which is in the process of moving from prototyping to low volume production, us looking for a Hybrid System Design Functional Safety Engineer. The successful candidate will be a graduate in Controls with Hybrid Powertrain Systems knowledge and ISO26262.

Commutable from: Abingdon, Oxford, Bicester, Wantage, Didcot, Witney

Salary: £60,000 – £72,000p.a. plus benefits

The Role

Management of system level requirements and cascade/traceability within the requirements management toolset
Ownership of the functional safety concept and maturation of the system design accordingly
Driving the evolution of system design to improve fuel economy, driveability, reliability and robustness
Supporting DFMEA, FTA activities at the system level
Ownership of design verification methodologies at the system level
Work closely with the Test and Development team to ensure suitable test properties are developed in line with the System Design Verification Plan
Support/Drive the implementation of ISO26262 processes and methodologies in the system team
Work closely with other design functions and project management to ensure that development is aligned with customer requirements, contribute to product innovations and improvement ideas
Visit other company sites and customer sites as required

The Person

Engineering degree qualified in Control Systems, Systems Engineering or similar discipline
Requirements Management (ideally within PTC Integrity, IBM Rational Doors etc)
Design for Functional Safety – ISO26262 experience an advantage
Systems Engineering processes and best practice
Verification and Validation utilising Hardware-in-the-Loop toolsets
CAN communications (including J1939)
Experience in the development of safety-critical systems
Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills
Hybrid Powertrain systems knowledge
Strong collaborative working ethic – excellent interpersonal communication at an engineering level
