What you need to know about the role
As British Steel continues to evolve and invest in a cleaner, greener future, we require a HR Manager, Operations to contribute to the definition of the business strategy, identify the key people and organisational activities required, and translate these into HR initiatives and demand for services.

Leading a team of 5 HR Advisors you will also be responsible for developing the organisation and people strategy for the all operational areas of the UK business you will be responsible for:

  • Strategy and planning
  • Organisation assessment and design
  • Talent and recruitment
  • Employee engagement
  • Organisational change
  • Reward and retention
  • Delivery of HR Policy, Process, Projects & Partnerships
  • Advise, coach and develop Senior Line Management

You will provide senior level support to the HR Director on all business HR matters, especially within the field of UK Employment Law and working practises and industrial relations and deputise for them as required.

What we need to know about you
To be successful in the role, you need to a CIPD Level 5 qualified, experienced HR professional. Demonstrable experience in a similar role is crucial, including a strong practical application of skills in HR casework including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, performance and absence management and talent, performance and development strategy and delivery.

Experience of delivering multiple priorities successfully and an ability to consider multiple options and clearly advise on a recommended path are essential skills.

Critical to your success in this role will be previous experience in a manufacturing environment with Trade Union recognition. You should be a strong communicator with the ability to develop strong working relationships, to enhance work output.

Recognising the business will shortly be embarking on a significant change programme that will involve large scale restructuring, you must also have demonstrable experience within this area, including full experience in leading on consultation and all associated follow on processes.

Previous use of the iTrent/MHR systems would be an advantage.
