Hgv2 Driver

Salary: £14.4 – £18 per hour

Our client is one of the South East’s leading skip hire, haulage and waste transfer

stations. Established over 35 years ago, the company is conveniently based

between Polegate and Hailsham and employs a team of 35 people in the yard,

on the road and in the office. It is an exciting time for as they invest in new staff,

technology and the company. They are now looking for a reliable LGV Drivers to join

the expanding team.

The job role:

– You will report to the Transport Manager. This is a full-time position working

Monday – Friday 42.5 hours per week, plus optional overtime and weekend work

– HGV2 licence, CPC and Digi Tacho required.

– Operating commercial vehicles 7.5 tonnes – 32 tonnes:

including skip loaders, sweepers, tippers, hook loaders, tipper grab.

As an LGV driver you will be responsible for

– Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately

– Making sure loads are safely secured

– Following traffic reports and adapting routes if necessary

– Completing delivery paperwork

– Keeping up-to-date logbooks

– Carrying out basic routine maintenance, such as oil, tyre and brake checks

You will also be required to work in the yard if / when required.

Key skills:

– Excellent customer service

– Administration skills to make sure all documentation is completed correctly

– Be thorough and pay attention to detail

– Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

– Able to accept criticism and work well under pressure

– Happy to use an in-vehicle hand-held device and the Driver Ap (training provided)

– Able to operate and control equipment (e.g. tipping gear, hook loaders,

hydraulics)

– Must enjoy working in the outdoors and in all weather conditions

– Flexible to work on different vehicles and different shifts
