Duties:
• To recommend and advise strategies for continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance in line with company goals, and to develop, as necessary with the Safety Manager, divisional standards for health, safety and environmental matters to drive improved performance across the business.
• General Advice Provide advice on all aspects of health, safety and environment ensuring that HSE is given primary importance throughout all activities and that work is carried out to the standards required by the Company safety policies and current legislation.
• Construction teams receive timely and accurate advice
• Report in accordance with the standards and guidelines ensuring that health, safety and environment are given primary importance throughout
• All reporting is carried out accurately and in line with company guidelines
• Support Management in the development and implementation of appropriate risk management strategies and processes
• Promote awareness and ‘best practice’ procedures
• Provide practical support and assistance to employees and contractors as appropriate.
• Visit the sites on a regular basis (pattern to be determined by the HSE Safety Manager in consultation with Divisional Director) and complete a site inspection, leaving a written report on site and forwarding copies to the Divisional Construction Director.
• Site staff know who you are and you lead by example, motivating staff to achieve high levels of Health & Safety
• Become the recognised point of contact for all managers wishing to discuss or seeking guidance on safety matters
• Ensure that a safe working environment is regularly monitored on all contracts
• All sites are working to the correct level of safety and feel supported to achieve this
• Where required stop any activity conducted by an employee or sub-contractor or self-employed person if it is considered that there is a serious risk of injury or the activity seriously infringes current legislation.
• Accidents, incidents are avoided early
• Accidents and Incidents Carry out investigations into accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences as required by the HSE Manager
• All accidents and incidents are reported to all relevant parties
• Investigations are carried out and completed within the given timescales
• Report any concerns with planned works to the HSE Manager, or escalate to the relevant MD
• You are proactive and ensure your concerns are taken seriously
• Partake in internal and external HSE audits as directed by the HSE Manager
• All audits are carried out on a regular basis and results are analysed and acted upon
• Suggest training and development needs of site staff to the HSE Manager
• All staff are trained to the highest standard in terms of Health & Safety
• Review controls and risk assessments and update and instigate recommendations as necessary
• Controls and risk assessments are in place and cover all necessary areas of Health & Safety
Candidate Profile:
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience within the construction industry in a managerial role
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or similar
• IOSH – Technical Member, Graduate Member or similar
• Clean Driving Licence
• Ability to work autonomously as well as function as part of a wider team.
• Assertive.
• A good team player who is highly organised and dedicated to meeting the project deadlines.
• Good communication with people at all levels of the business.

• Takes a proactive approach to own learning and development.
