Head of Production

Salary: £120,000 – £132,000 per year

Leadership role within a high value technology company, responsible for production operation. 

Venture-backed R&D company commercialising a profound and externally validated technology, that is now focused on design for mass production, is seeking a decisive Head of Production to work with a product that will make a significant difference to people’s lives and present a financially rewarding and exciting journey.

Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with a passionate dynamic and ambitious team of 15 engineers, where you will be pivotal in all stages of new product development/implementation, production and assembly processes that are DFM, in readiness for mass production site in China. 

You will demonstrate a multi-disciplined and entrepreneurial spirit with a minimum of 12 year’s exposure establishing a new production and assembly site setup with full P&L responsibility with practical knowledge with cost-effective solutions to sub-contracting whilst ensuring the integrity of the IP whilst delivering on time and within budget.

Your key responsibilities: 

• First year to manage London-based production unit
  
  • Build and manage a manufacturing team to meet demand
  • Maintain required QC/Audit/QMS processes (both raw materials and finished product) 
  • Manage raw material suppliers and transportation 
  • Responsible for cost reduction and scalability 

• Second year, develop or out-source near-market mass production capability in China 
  
  • Create overall manufacturing strategy 
  • Responsible for high volume production and integration with vendors (either through Vendors or a China subsidiary) 
  • Develop and manage audit function to ensure control of final product quality

• Overall support 
  
  • Go to market strategy (product readiness, infrastructure) 
  • Advice on technology improvements to reduce cost and increase performance 
  • Manage OEM relationships
  • Demonstrate full process from technical design to production
  • Overseeing and ensuring H&S/quality processes and procedures are in place and followed

Essential 

• Minimum degree/HND/apprenticed trained in engineering/production/chemical or similar calibre
• 12+ years industry experience (manufacturing and production) 
• DFM, QC/Audit/QMS manufacturing processes 
• Experience with building early stage production facilities in both UK and China
• Senior management, with excellent interpersonal and project skills (PRINCE2 or similar)
• Ability to work on site in the main London office with International exposure that includes China
• Bilingual/multilingual language skills especially Mandarin are desirable
• Up to date with manufacturing trends (particularly robotics and automation)
• Injection moulding to thermoforming with a passion for the sport Industry are desirable
