We are looking for a Head of Major Bids who has had hands-on proposal writing experience in a large engineering design & build/services environment

Candidates for the position of Head of Major Bids (Proposal Writing/Engineering) must have had demonstrable experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to delivery input into win strategies, solution delivery and approach to constructing a compelling business proposition

Proven capability as a lead proposal manager on multiple proposals with values of £50M – £100M is essential as is extensive and broad-based technical engineering and engineering management experience and the ability to manage complex, multi discipline opportunities with experience of teaming arrangements

You must have had experience of developing proposals for a wide variety of contract vehicles including fixed price bids, cost-plus, time and materials and have strong people management skills and interpersonal behaviours including proactive networking

It is envisaged that the Head of Major Bids (Proposal Writing/Engineering) will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and ideally have an MBA (or equivalent) and be a Chartered Engineer

The role of Head of Major Bids (Proposal Writing/Engineering) is to work with the Marine and Technology Division of a defence company which provides through-life services and deep maintenance to the Royal Navy’s major warships and nuclear-powered submarines as well as operating a wide range of strategic shore based naval support facilities.

Day to day duties of the Head of Major Bids (Proposal Writing/Engineering) will include:

* Coordinating and managing bids to maximise chances of winning new business
* Taking full ownership of the end-to-end solutions bid campaign.
* Planning, obtaining, deploying, managing, and coordinating the division’s resources in support of UK and international proposal and marketing efforts.
* Coordinating, scheduling and overseeing the development of technical proposals/bids on a Division – wide basis.

As this is a highly networked role the Head of Major Bids (Proposal Writing/Engineering)must be able to work under pressure to demanding deadlines an possess strong people management skills for this dynamic environment

The work will entail a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects and working with key clients domestically and internationally.
