The Lawsons Group is a family-owned business that sells Timber, Fencing and Building materials to both the trade and DIY sectors.
The first Lawsons business was formed in 1921 and the Group has now grown to 32 branches, has close to 750 employees, a turnover of £160m and is highly profitable and cash generative. Net assets now exceed £80m.
The Group has grown rapidly over the last 2 years through several strategic acquisitions and further expansion is likely in the next 2-3 years. Working in a busy Finance Team, this is a hands-on role. Being able to produce accurate and timely management information at all levels is essential.
We need to recruit a hands-on Commercially aware, Group Management Accountant. The role will be varied and will based at our offices in Colney Heath. There may be the need for occasional travel to our AP offices which are located at a different site in Colney Heath, and to our branch network, which stretches from Brighton to Peterborough.
The Role is varied and will include:
Assist with Accurate and Timely production & review of Management Accounts, for all Group Companies – reporting packs with commentary.
Working Closely with Area Directors and Branch Managers
Review and Report on Stock Taking and Stock Variances – including stock take attendance to confirm Stock Take Controls.
Intrastat and Customs Clearance,
Preparation of year end schedules to support External Audit process.
Preparation of Data used in the Annual Budget process.
Payroll Reconciliation
Ad hoc Training on Sales Analysis and Management Accounts to our Branch Network.
Testing and Implementation and integration of any newly acquired businesses.
Electricity & Gas contract review and renewal.
Chart of Accounts Maintenance in ERP system.
Other Ad hoc reporting / tasks, requested by Senior Finance Team Members.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is:

Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications
Graduate in a Finance/Accountancy (or similar) Degree Minimum 2:1
Qualified ACCA/CIMA or similar.
Ideally 2-3 years post qualified experience.
Excel, Word, Office.
Accuracy is important.
Attention to detail
Kerridge (Babbage) would be nice, but not essential,
VAT and intrastate knowledge.
