Graduate Application Engineer

Salary: £27,600 – £31,200 per year

An exciting new role for a Graduate Application Engineer is launched by this expanding business to develop applications and processes with the Exeter and Munich teams to support capital sales. Joining a small, dedicated and specialist team, you’ll be helping customers with application processes, resolving problems and once you’ve learned all about he products servicing and repairing equipment when necessary.

Graduate Application Engineer key responsibilities:
* Develop, test, evaluate, report and present findings on novel optical fibre devices and applications for commercial use and sale
* Pre and post sales customer support and evaluation across the UK and EU plus product demonstration at customer offices or trade shows (remotely and/or in person).
* Create and develop customer support material from video’s on “how to” through to preparation of supporting documents and help train them in the accurate use of equipment.
* Resolve technical issues and feedback to the USA on product and process usability and suggest potential improvement & development ideas
* Assisting with designing jigs and fixtures to extend equipment use
* After product specific training, assist with equipment repair and support customers with easier repairs and follow up with product training and improving machine performance remotely
Essential skills and experience of the Graduate Application Engineer:
* BEng / BSc or equivalent in Engineering or Natural Sciences (Physics, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering etc)
* Knowledge of fibre optics would be highly beneficial, how it is used, processed and managed in customer end products. You will develop advanced optical fibre processing techniques
* A methodical, positive and problem solving mindset, you will be able to multitask, find solutions, manage your time, work in a team and independently, yet be creative and have an eye for detail
* Customer focussed with outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills for procedural documents and training delivery, to engaging with research organisations and application development ideas
