This Multi-National Consultancy require a Geotechnical Engineer for their Manchester office.
About the Role
You will be a key part of our busy Manchester geotechnical team, providing professional advice in the field of Geotechnical Engineering whilst ensuring efficient project delivery and budget management for internal and external clients. You will be working on Highways England schemes in Cumbria and North Lancashire and maintenance contracts and local authority schemes including North Yorkshire. T he successful applicant will be required to carry out ground investigation supervision, soil and rock slope inspections and reporting for geotechnical design works including slope stability, foundations, embedded retaining structures and ground improvements.
About You
With a first degree in Civil Engineering or Geology and an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering (or similar) you will be a member of a relevant professional institution. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience of geotechnical design in the Highways, Water, Marine and/or Rail infrastructure sectors, including foundation design. Previously worked in Geotechnical project teams within a business environment. You will be able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of geotechnical projects and reports with working knowledge of UK design codes (including EC7 Part 1, and UK annexes), standards and specifications. Experience of rock slope inspection would be beneficial and IRATA training would be ideal. Familiarity in the use of geotechnical software is essential whilst competency with the MS Office suite of programs and strong communication skills are key. You should be willing and able to work on short site assignments throughout the UK. Longer term site or overseas assignments may be available.
