Gas Engineer (Train to Become A Smart Meter Installer)

Are you a metering qualified domestic gas engineer seeking to invest in your own career development in reward for stable and rewarding employment?

ACS MET1 (or equivalent) gas metering qualified engineers required who are prepared pay for their own electric meter training and become fully qualified dual fuel meter installers.

These electric metering courses will allow you to obtain a MOCOPA authorisation and progress directly into full time paid employment.

The Training Course

The Course will be a mix of 2 weeks Classroom study (similar to ACS renewal) which takes place in Stockport in Cheshire, On-line homework and practical metering training with a dual fuel mentor, where you will be working live in residential premises in your home postal code region.

The Field Based Training period, will be variable in length to match your own abilities and the final examinations will not take place until you are fully confident and competent in the installation of dual fuel meters and their associated equipment.

Guaranteed route into Employment

Interviews will take place locally prior to any training course commencing.

Applicants that pass the application and pre-screening process will then be offered a place on the smart metering training course.

Applicants that pass the training course will transfer to permanent employment with the Utilities Metering Company where you have carried our your mentored training.

Employment Salary and Benefits

£26,750basic annual salary
5th meter (not properties) and above fitted per day earns a £20 per meter bonus
Expected annual earnings in excess of £26,000 to £30,000
Employer / Employee Contribution pension scheme
28 days annual leave
Company vehicle, Fuel Card, all PPE, Tools and Work Computer/Phone.

Course Costs and Retention Bonus

This Course will cost you £1,980 (plus VAT)

The end employer will pay you £5,000 spread over three years as a loyalty bonus and to cover the costs of the training course.

Please note; you will not be paid whilst attending the training centre or during the onsite assessment stage, so you will need to ensure that you can self fund the full training time prior to commencement of employment.
