Fundraising Development Officer

Location: Hybrid Working – based out of the office in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Salary: £28,397 – £30,910 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week across 5 days

Founded in 1989 as a conservation charity, our client is now a leading provider in East Anglia of education and wellbeing programmes for the most disadvantaged in society; mostly those in the lowest 5% in terms of their wellbeing and integration.

The organisation support adults, children and young people, using the environment to rebuild, reawaken and refocus their lives. They sit at the crossroads between health, education and the environment, transforming the lives of people with some of the most complex needs and challenges, who have been unable to get the help they need from anywhere else. At the same time, their work is also improving the wild and green spaces they work in, by bringing woodlands back into management, increasing biodiversity and creating new habitats.

The Role

Fundraising Development Officer will report to the Head of Development & Impact and be a member of the Development & Impact Team. This role will be key to helping the Trust continue to grow and to reach more people who need their support.

The priorities in this role will include:

  • Researching and progressing various fundraising opportunities to help grow the Trust’s income and impact
  • Writing grant applications and proposals for support, for various funding audiences
  • Developing fundraising briefs for key projects, to then fundraise against
  • Developing and maintaining an annual fundraising plan
  • Ensuring case management system records and tracks our fundraising progress
  • Building warm and productive relationships with relevant funders, supporters, and your team at the Trust
  • Ensuring the Trust meet the reporting requirements for grants and other fundraising activities
  • Developing, coordinating and promoting employee team building and wellbeing days for corporate audiences, to help generate additional income for the organisation
  • Maximising income from corporate supporters by cultivating mutually beneficial relationships and evolving the corporate fundraising offer

Role Requirements

The organisation are seeking someone who will help them turn the many opportunities for funding into the fuel they need to support those who need them the most.

The role will be a great fit if you:

  • Understand the world of grants, trusts and fundraising
  • Have experience of writing bids and applying for funding, or skills and experience that you would consider to be transferable
  • Thrive on achieving targets and deadlines – key when submitting funding applications
  • Have excellent written English and are a very strong communicator – relationships are key!
  • Have attention to detail: accuracy across both numbers and words is important
  • Have strong IT skills
  • Are passionate about the organisation’s vision and values
