Freshwater Ecologist

A respected company with excellent career prospects are seeking a Freshwater Ecologist/Senior Freshwater Ecologist to work on a range of public and private sector projects to meet the demands of their increasing project portfolio.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

– Survey delivery (inc electric fishing, habitat survey, macrophytes and invertebrates)

– Survey coordination

– Interpretation of aquatic data and writing technical reports

Essential:

– Degree qualification in related discipline

– A freshwater specialism

– Professional experience with a track record of freshwater field work

– Electric fishing qualification with proven track record of survey delivery

– Experience of leading and coordinating field work activities

– Proven ability to design appropriate monitoring programmes and management of survey logistics and teams

– Detailed understanding of relevant legislation

– Scientific approach to, and experience of, sampling design, data analysis and statistics

– Ability to write clear and concise reports

Desirable:

– Fish habitat mapping/ RHS experience

– Macrophyte identification skills

– Macroinvertebrates identification skills

– Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment
