Freight / Shipping Co-Ordinator

Permanent Role

£33,600 Per Annum

Our client are a major freight company who provide air and sea freight forwarding and warehouse management services. Due to business demand, they are currently recruiting for a Freight / Shipping Co-ordinator to join the Newcastle Branch of their organisation on a permanent basis.

The successful applicant will work initially part remotely and part office based progressing to more office based over time.

Responsibilities for the role:

* Processes shipments Air /ocean/ Road

* Completing all relevant Import / Export paperwork, entering console data.

* Completing HM Customs paperwork depending on mode of transport.

* Completing HAWB’s, MAWB’s and IATA forms.

* Dealing with customer queries.

* Arranging collections and deliveries of freight with haulage companies.

* Providing Air /Road / Ocean quotations to customer.

* Negotiating ad hoc rates with suppliers.

* Invoicing shipments and keying of supplier’s invoices.

* May have responsibility for ensuring sufficient stationery is available for departmental needs Eq, airwaybills and ocean bills.

* Other duties as assigned by Manager/ Supervisor

Required Experience:

* Experience in airfreight industry essential.

* Must be fully conversant with all airfreight and ocean freight procedures.

Skills:

* Experience of consolidations, HAWBs/MAWBs and IATA shipment procedures (essential);

* Training in dangerous goods and knowledge of letters of credit (desirable – training can be given).

* customs procedures as well as Inward & Outward Processing Reliefs (essential);

* MS Office (WORD, OUTLOOK, EXCEL)

* ASM / Chief system, NCTS

Ability to:

* Work on own initiative

* Tactfully handle customers and their queries

* Good communication skills essential

* Must be prepared to work shifts (including overtime as and when needed)

* Must be prepared to be on call/call out if there is a need to

* Able to work as a team
