Bournemouth and Poole College now have an interesting new opening for a Foundation Placement Adviser (High Needs) to join the team working term time only. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £23,311 per annum [pro rata for TTO- £20,023].

About the role:

As the Foundation Placement Adviser, you will be responsible for sourcing, preparing and placing students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and with High Needs on internal and external work placements. This role will involve building strong relationships with employers to explore opportunities for student work placements, to liaise with employers regarding student suitability, plan and carry out visits to students on work placement and evaluate work placement impact on student learning, progress and destination.

Responsibilities as our Foundation Placement Adviser will include:

  • Contact and/or visit employers to build up a supply of placement opportunities for Foundation students and to maintain a database of contacts
  • Match students with employers
  • Meet with students, and families where necessary, to ensure they are prepared for their work placement and that they have suitable social and technical skills to be successful
  • Liaise closely Learning Manager and curriculum team and attend team meetings as and when required to update progress and share information
  • Meet with employers and ensure a clear plan is devised that covers the work placement with clear objectives for skills development by the student
  • Provide support to employers and deal with any queries that arise
  • Undertake regular reviews with students on placement and complete necessary review paperwork
  • Attend meetings with other agencies to raise awareness and discuss joined up approach to work experience.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety and ensure risk assessments are carried out in work placements and that employers’ liability insurance is in place
  • Collate, monitor and analyse student and employer feedback on work placements and use this to make changes to the work placement process if appropriate

As our Foundation Placement Adviser, you’llideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths qualifications
  • Work experience in a Further Education setting i.e. college or school
  • Experience of working with young people with social emotional and mental health differences.
  • Proven track record of success in supporting young people.
  • Ability to work with young people, parents/carers and colleagues, as appropriate
  • Competent in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of post-16 education and training
  • Informed on issues of safeguarding young people’s welfare
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Attendance at college events i.e. open evenings including outside of normal working hours
  • Ability to work within College policies on confidentiality.
  • A broad knowledge of equality issues and an ability to implement equal opportunities initiatives ·
