Financial Controller

Salary: £60,000 – £66,000 per year

Rotheram Carrington Recruitment Group are pleased to be supporting a very well-established business based on the outskirts of Chester looking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. Our client is seeking an individual with strong man-management skills as the successful person will be responsible for a team of several in finance at a variety of levels. This role will report to the Group Financial Controller and will be responsible for the direction and management of the team and to ensure the smooth process of the month-end accounts, KPI’s and balance sheet control for a business area turning over in the region of £30m. This business has a real emphasis on the service sector so a willingness to work over and above is key.

This role could suit a Senior Management Accountant who is currently managing a team and is looking for that next step up, or a proven Finance Manager or Controller who is the nuts and bolts of an organisation ensuring that the day-to-day operations run smoothly.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reporting to the Group Financial Controller you will be responsible for all aspects of managing and reviewing the month end process and balance sheet control
• Staff management for a team of several in finance from ledger level through to management accountant (coaching and developing)
• Full review of the month end process to P&L, setting KPI’s and providing commentary to the leadership team
• Annual budgeting and forecasting
• Maintaining the fixed asset register
• Preparation and submission of the VAT return
• Supporting the Directors across the business areas with key financial information as and when required
• Finance business partnering with line directors across the business to create and develop models for new tenders and contracts to aid in negotiations
• Continuous process improvement
• Assist GFC with audit process and production of statutory accounts

Skills/Experience

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant, with 2-5 years post qualification experience.
• Background ideally within the service sector but not essential, whilst this is a dynamic business it would suit someone who is happy at the FC level for the next 3 to 5 years, will be lots of projects to get involved in
• Would also suit a Senior Management Accountant or Finance Manager who has manage a team and looking for that next step up
• Proven background in a management role for the last couple of years focusing on the month-end process
• Must be a people person, happy to work outside normal ours if required, time back in lieu
• Excellent IT skills with knowledge of current technologies and experience of new systems implementation

Salary/Benefits

• £60,000 – £66,000 per annum
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• This role will mainly be on-site, management team very flexible, really nice offices and flexibility is available
