Financial Accountant – Publishing (Fixed Term)

Salary: £48,000 per year

Apple Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for our client, a leading media and news company, who are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team based in Belfast on a fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Head of Finance (NI), the successful candidate will take sole responsibility for a range of key areas, as well as working as part of the team on certain projects.

The successful applicant will recieved a competitive salary, circa £48,000 per annum plus generous benefits, 34 days annual leave inclusive of public & statutory holidays and a minimum 5% employee pension.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

* Ensure the reputation and credibility of the finance function by providing timely and accurate month end accounts, cost management delivery and weekly and monthly forecasts

* Take ownership of the allocated revenue and cost lines in the respective entities PL’s and pro-actively manage the relevant balance sheet codes to produce accurate and timely results

* Establish and maintain strong relationships with our outsourced financial partners, publishing finance team colleagues and senior executives of the business so as to satisfy their financial needs

* Challenge relevant operational department heads to achieve and if possible outperform budget

* Assist with the preparation of the year end financial statements and liaise with the relevant members of the audit and taxation teams

* Ensure ongoing compliance with the initiatives and policies implemented by the Internal Audit Function

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Qualified Accountant, 3-4+ yrs PQE (preferably Chartered)

* At least 3-4 years’ experience in an industry financial role, in a fast-paced, dynamic and ambitious organisation

* Previous experience in an advertising agency/digital company would be advantageous

* Ability to deal with growth and change

* Comfortable with systems

* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with non-financial areas of the business in a jargon free format
