Finance Manager

Salary: £60,000 – £72,000 per year

Role Overview

Responsibility for, service delivery and reporting of the combined Accounting Operation, including Purchase Ledger, Costing and Credit Control Functions.

• Managing a team of circa 9 to ensure all transactional and reporting requirements are met.
• Actively managing the team with a strong focus on leadership and team development.
• Management and delivery of month end close across UK and European branches
• Preparation of month end reporting packs including commentary on variances
• Delivery of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Maintaining a robust transactional controls environment which complies with group policy.
• Overseeing all areas of customer credit and liaising with sales and operations as required.
• Managing customer collections and controlling query debtor process.
• Managing bad debt and administering legal actions resulting from customer defaults.
• Overseeing job costing, CASS/integrator invoice matching and query resolution.
• Ensuring all UK & overseas suppliers are paid and queries are resolved in a timely fashion.
• Administering new customer and supplier onboarding.
• Co-ordinating insurance claims settlement arising from freight delivery.
• Weekly cash forecasting and monitoring of actual cash flows.
• Administering the banking function.
• Payment approvals.
• Co-ordinating delivery of annual and interim audit process.
• Posting payroll information to the finance system.
• Monthly and quarterly VAT submissions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrable experience of leading month end process.
• Experience of managing teams and accounting functions in a multi-site business preferred.
• Previous experience in managing and motivating a team
• Experience in Freight Forwarding/ Logistics/ Aviation/ High Volume Transactions.
• Experience or exposure to implementing new systems will be an advantage.
