Exciting opportunity for a talented intermediate level Estimator
The Client
Our client, a privately owned construction sub contractor and established 10 years ago, are currently keen to resource an experienced Estimator (at an intermediate level) to work on joinery and carpentry. The contractor’s expertise is within the commercial, education and prime residential sectors, having a fabulous reputation for quality of work and on time completion.
Estimator’s role and responsibilities
We have been instructed to source an Estimator who will be based in their London office. The Estimators role will be to price tenders on schemes between £1m -£5m value. Responsibilities will include:
To manage commercial activities with a high degree of acumen.
Ensure work is priced and can be let at current pricing levels.
To identify opportunities to add value throughout the project process.
To identify risks and opportunities.
Estimator will be able to price from first principles using agreed company outputs.
Present priced elements at tender settlement in comparison to supply chain returns.
To lead the supply chain enquiry process.
To conduct their role in a way which is consistent with the company’s sustainability objectives.
To complete project take–offs to the required level of detail up to the level of SMM 7 for all
trades.
To lead and prepare the complete commercial and pricing element of a tender or cost plan.
Presentation at tender settlement of an accurate, considered financial bid.
To produce a detailed control document at handover to delivery team.
Estimator’s experience
Successful delivery of tenders.
Knowledge of carpentry and joinery estimating.
Experience using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook
and Project.
Controlling costs, timing and quality.
