Forbes HR Ltd

Salary: £60,000 – £72,000 per year

Position: Engineering Manager & Deliery Lead

Location: Central London

Term: Permanent

Remuneration: £Negotiable, Full Benefits & Bonus

Our Client is a multi-billion dollar globally operating technical innovator who provide state-of-the-art professional services including consulting, technical, scientific and project delivery for the government and private sector. Their next new project is in the support of a next-of-a-kind new nuclear power plant in Suffolk, entitled Sizewell C (SZC). The SZC Project is engineering-led in order to secure SZC’s design replication strategy and a large part of the supply chain is being replicated from Hinkley Point C (HPC). It is for this reason that we have been tasked with finding an experienced Engineering Manager & Delivery Lead on a permanent basis to drive the delivery of engineering work and support the procurement of key contracts. The objective of this role is to sufficiently advance the engineering and secure the supply chain to de-risk the SZC Final Investment Decision, through the maximum possible replication of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) detailed design. On offer to the successful applicant will be a negotiable, albeit based upon relevant experience, basic salary together with a full benefits package.

Your principle responsibilities will be;

* Take a global overview of the nuclear power plant Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs) within their programme, with a view to maximise replication from HPC and prepare for key contracts to be awarded.

* Be responsible for the timely delivery of engineering studies by the Responsible Designer or by key contractors and for ensuring they meet the needs of the SZC project.

* Prepare with the multidisciplinary team specific post-FID contracts (terms & conditions, contractual appendices and technical specification).

* Drive the implementation of SZC site-specific design changes into the design deliverables in their programme, including contract specifications to enable robust pricing.

* Manage internal interfaces (between contracts and systems) and external interfaces (between programme scopes) to ensure a coordinated approach to design and delivery.

* Manage early engagement with stakeholders (including equipment suppliers) to identify obsolescence issues and other risks to replication.

* Manage the technical elements of the procurement process for specific contracts.

* Maintain strong links with the project managers and engineers responsible for delivering equivalent scope at Hinkley Point C and implement all lessons learned.

Qualifications & Experience ideally required:

* Should ideally be educated with a relevant Degree, although those with lesser qualifications, but plenty of relevant experience will also be considered.

* Whilst not essential, a Chartered Engineering qualification is preferable, as is a formal Project Management qualification, PMQ or equivalent.

* You will need to be an accomplished Engineering Manager / Project Manager with experience in the Nuclear industry, better still having had previous exposure to the Hinkley Project C (HPC), although the latter isn’t necessarily essential.

* You will need a background in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Systems or Civil Engineering for large industrial plants.

* You will have demonstrable experience in delivering a similar role.

* Experience of co-coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work and driving design/procurement teams to deliver on time is needed.

* You will have a good understanding of the complexity of major projects, including interface management between scope areas.

* Experience of the pre-tender and tender stages of procuring contracts for the design, manufacturing and/or installation of industrial equipment needed.

* You will have strong communication skills in client-facing and contractor facing situations.

* You will be a proficient user of MS Office.

* Whilst by no means essential, written and verbal abilities in French would be welcomed, in addition to full English fluency.

* BPSS level security clearance required.
