Job Description
An Energy Engineer is required for a permanent position. The actual location of this position is to be confirmed. Job Purpose: Support to Operations in Delivering specialist Energy Management services in accordance with the RPC SW contractual output (Output specification section 4) and revised agreements and innovations agreed within the Contract extension proposals.
Responsibilities
Be instrumental and take ownership in the preparation of annual valid Energy related bids and business cases for submission and presentation to DIO. Draw up proposals to achieve government targets across the RPC area. Compile an asset condition schedule of all Building control systems by building and by site. Assist DIO in achieving and maintaining full coverage of CRC meters across the RPC area. Advise RPC management team on new strategic energy related legislation and monitor progress against achieving compliance. Identify opportunities for investment in energy saving. Manage Delivery of and produce EPC’s and DEC’s, undertake AC inspections and produce reports as required by the EPBD. Collaborate with other workstreams such as sustainability to develop innovations aimed at reducing Carbon and increasing our green credentials. Assist Project Managers in the delivery of successfully funded projects from DIO central funds. Assist Project Managers in assessing requirements for new builds and consequential improvements on refurbishment work. Assist site based clients in setting energy targets and monitoring energy consumption. Review time and temperature schedules for optimum settings with the client twice a year. Maintain records of agreed settings. Monitor and review metering logic on each site and advise where additional metering is required. Where required monitor and record site consumption levels of all electricity and fossil fuels. Skills required: Proven experience of delivering Energy Management services on a large multi-service contract. Good communicator. Able to present solutions to large and diverse audiences. Advances user of Microsoft office packages. Ability to use and interrogate variety of BMS and M&T systems. Ability to lead problem solving teams of varying backgrounds and experience which may include wider teams and/or client teams. Have a thorough understanding of the H&S procedures and be able to apply these within the workplace. Any special considerations or requirements: Be responsible for the safe delivery of the contract obligations ensuring that all activities are delivered in accordance with agreed risk assessments and method statements. This role will require extensive travelling by own car around the RPC SW area with possible visits to other sites. Must have a thorough knowledge of current and emerging legislation. Applicant to understand the principles of Prime Contracting, have a thorough understanding of the contract documents and the required output.
Qualifications & Requirements
Professional Qualifications required: Preferred – Degree in Building Services, Energy management or equivalent. Minimum – HND in Building Services, Energy management or equivalent. Member of, or working towards, CIBSE or EI. Low Carbon Energy Assessor (or actively working towards). Experience (Technical and Managerial) Essential: A proven track record in delivering all aspects of Energy Management including preparation of business cases. Desirable: Previous experience of producing Energy Performance certificates. Knowledge: Essential: Legislation and best practise regarding Energy Management. Desirable: Knowledge of how Energy Management interacts with other work streams and supports operations. Qualities and Attitude: Proactive – anticipates problems and shows initiative for problem-solving and generating new ideas. Trustworthy with confidential information, is able to deal with confidential information in an appropriate and sensitive way. Does not divulge information out of department. Flexible – is willing to undertake a range of tasks for the effective running of the department. Is willing to work the hours required for the successful completion of tasks. Good communicator with ability to manage customer expectations. Team player able to work within project teams.
Security
Must be able to obtain and retain MOD Security Clearance.
