Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year
My client are a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose food processing machinery, based on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border. With over 50 years of history in providing innovative and high-spec products to the global market, they are synonymous with functional design and industry leading quality.
As part of their ambitious growth plans for 2022 and beyond, they are looking to recruit a hands on Electrical Design Engineer to work closely with Mechanical, Control and Software engineering professionals across a wide range of R&D projects. Your role will be to provide control panel layouts, schematic drawings with component and cable specifications, and provide support to installation teams and end users. The role will be based in the companies head office, but may also require some flexibility to travel to remote manufacturing sites when required.
Your day to day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
– Generation of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams using Eplan Pro Panel.
– Specification and sourcing of components, consumables and other hardware in conjunction with purchasing and software department to meet requirements and project cost targets.
– PLC/HMI selection in conjunction with the Software department.
– Support Spares/Service department with sourcing of parts for customers and technical queries.
– Working to a customer provided specification (URS) when required.
– Working to the appropriate legislation/standards specific to the project. For example, BS7671, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL508A, NFPA79, AS3000, etc.
– Ensure product safety and compliance to relevant codes and standards are implemented and maintained.
– Ensure the integrity of the design through technical design calculations and provide reports when required.
Ideally you will qualified to a high level in electrical engineering (HND/Degree) and possess 3-5 years experience in a similar role within a machinery build and design environment. A strong background in the use of CAD systems, such as EPlan is essential, along with other applications used in the design, calculation and reporting on complex machinery systems. Technically, you will need to demonstrate a good understanding of control panel design legislation, PLCs (Mitsubishi, AB and Siemens) and industrial networking systems (Ethernet/IP, ModBUS TCP, RS282/485 etc)
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, office hours.
