Driver – Van

ROLE TITLE: Driver – Van
REPORTS TO: Section Manager
Salary: £26,000per year
Location: Southampton
Temporary – Early November – January 2014

To provide a customer-focused, high volume, multi-drop door-to-door service, delivering and collecting parcels.

MAIN AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

* Prepare parcels for delivery by following agreed sort and load practices.
* Deliver against the designated route in the most time-efficient and safe manner; attempting both the delivery of every parcel loaded and collections scheduled for that day.
* Ensure the delivery and collection service complies with comapanies agreed procedures and practices, providing every customer with a positive and friendly experience.
* Complete all required documentation, in line with Company policies and procedures.
* Ensure all parcels have appropriate check point scans applied.
* Carry out daily checks on designated vehicle, ensuring road-worthiness and hygiene. Report all defects to management.
* Comply with company security and search policies and procedures, ensuring the security of designated vehicle and contents at all times.
* Understand and comply with the Company Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
* Report to management any possible fraud suspicions, which are encountered whilst on round.
* Report all personal and vehicle accidents or incidents as soon as possible to management and complete the necessary reports upon return to the SVC.

Reporting to the Section Manager, the job holder will perform other tasks as and when the occasion arises. The duties of this role are not restricted to those listed in this description.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

* Full UK driving licence
* Ability to map read
* Ability to understand/complete basic administration/documentation
* Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Educated to minimum GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)
