Whistl have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Assessor to join the Transport team based in Warrington. You will develop and implement driver training and support systems to improve operational, regulatory, health & safety standards and ensure all fleet assets are maintained to the highest standards and act on the driver debrief process and develop and improve driver performance.

Key Responsibilities for our Driver Assessor are:

– Develop driver training programs that drive improvements across all aspects of operational activity, and that are relevant to the company objectives.

– Carry out all employed and Agency driver inductions and driving assessments.

– Develop improvements in internal communication with driving personnel, ensuring that they are kept fully up to date with the latest legislation and business developments.

– Ensure all driving personnel have correct knowledge, equipment and training to carry out their duties at all times.

– Monitor and review driver performance through the use of ISOTRAK reporting, implement corrective action plans to develop and support under performance.

– Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that the Transport department’s needs are met.

– Investigate route cause of any accidents or near misses and work in conjunction with the Transport Manager to ensure processes are developed to prevent re occurrences.

– Conduct disciplinary hearings in line with the company disciplinary policy.

– Ensure strict compliance to DVSA standards.

Key skills of our Driver Assessor are:

– HGV Class C+E Licence (Maximum 3 points)

– HGV Driver assessor/instructor qualification (IAM, DSA, RTITB)

– C+E Driving Licence (Maximum 3 points)

– Driver Training Qualification (IAM, DSA, RTITB)

– Problem solving

– Ability to deliver classroom based training sessions including Driver CPC

– At least 3 years’ experience in the transport industry

– Significant knowledge of transport legislation and road haulage

– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers

– Good understanding of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook)

– Proven track record in delivering driver training to a high standard

– High level of attention to detail enabling accurate analysis and control of data

You will be required to work a varied shift pattern which will include Days, Nights and weekends, often at short notice. You will also be required to travel to other depots throughout the network to provide cover and support when needed, sometimes requiring nights away.
