Developer & Software Support Engineer

DEVELOPER & SOFTWARE SUPPORT ENGINEER – BEDFORD – PERMANENT – SALARY £36,000DOE

Person
The person will be a highly motivated individual with at least 2 years’ experience in programming with C# – ASP.NET and software support. You will need to be able to work efficiently & independently with strong communication skills. You should be creative but objective as well as forward thinking when it comes to developing new solutions. The ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines while under pressure is a pre-requisite for this role.

Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Head of Software Solutions to develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
* Create & Maintain documentation for software applications
* Testing and fault finding in software applications
* Build & Maintain strong relationships with internal customers
* 1st / 2nd line software support for both internal customers and external clients
* Remotely accessing/supporting clients with applications
* Weekly project progress reporting to IT Project Leader

Requirements
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* 2 years minimum experience with programming in C# (ASP.NET)
* 2 years minimum experience with relational database systems, preferable SQL
* Experience with SSRS & SSIS tools
* Exposure to other programming languages, ideally ColdFusion due to its use in current legacy systems.
* Knowledge of SVN and git.
* Ability to validate and transpose user requirements into technical specifications
* Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking when designing new features for applications
* High level of attention to detail
