Design Engineer

Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year

Total Vehicle Solutions Group are experiencing a huge period of growth and have a fantastic order book for 2022 already.

With four sites based across the UK, and over 50 years of combined trading history within the commercial vehicle market, they are synonymous with the design, manufacture and delivery of a wide range of solutions to the construction, logistics and commercial fleet market.

Following a period of investment, and the restructure of the businesses within its group, they are looking to hire a new Design Engineer for their Design and NPD Team.

Based at their site in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, your role will be to interpret customer requirements into appropriate and cost-effective designs which are in line with both current legislative requirements, but also reflect the manufacturing capability of the business.

As well as designing our range of our completely integrated systems, you will be responsible for providing solutions and upgrades across a wide of vehicle accessories and sectors. Throughout this process, you will work closely with internal departments such as manufacturing engineering, production and NPI to ensure a smooth transfer of the product through the business and to the customer.

TVS Group are a fast-paced organisation, with ambitious plans for this year and next, and several companywide modernisation projects are currently ongoing. As a consequence, individuals who can be dynamic and work without supervision are preferred, mainly due to the need for them to be able to prioritise and lead projects based on the customer need, along with working on new product introduction concepts passing through the company.

A degree or vocational qualification in a relevant engineering qualification is required, along with strong knowledge of mechanical calculation, structural design and hydraulic systems. Candidates from the automotive or specialist machinery sector are highly desired, due to the nature of the industry and its compliance stipulations. A background in the technical aspects of design is essential, so demonstrable experience in such things as DfM, DfA, DFMEA and FEA is preferred. Working knowledge of project management and SixSigma is an advantage.
