Deputy Manager – Mental Health Service

Kingston

FTC 12 Month Contract

37.5hrs per week (Monday – Friday)

24-Hour Complex Needs Service One Year Pilot  

Therapeutic optimism is at the heart of our work. Our client a Registered Mental Health Charity believes that all clients with mental health problems can achieve and make positive changes to their lives as they move along their pathway of recovery.

The Deputy Manager will be responsible for assisting the Manager in the smooth running of the companies Complex 24-hour supported accommodation and delivery of a first-class service in line with the company’s service offer. It is a move on focused service with a 1-year or less move on target. 

The role will work closely with the Service Manager:

  • To assist and deputise for the Service Manager in leading a 24-hour support service over a shift rota of 7 days a week including evenings for clients with enduring mental health problems
  • In conjunction with the Service Manager identify and drive referral process with emphasis on full bed occupancy
  • To help integrate the service within the companies mental health pathway and the wider local services network
  • Adapt and develop the service for a changing client group and keep fluidity within the development process
  • To assist in managing the service to support staff to assist clients to move on and progress along their individual recovery path within a 24-month period
  • To manage flexible support workers to
    • Enable clients to identify and define their own goals and work towards being as resilient and independent of services as possible, reducing their reliance on medical interventions and hospitalisations
    • Provide support to clients with specific dual diagnosis needs
    • Oversee the provision of housing management where appropriate
    • Provide focused outcome based support measured against clients’ goals, recovery and achievements

  • To meet the needs of the service you will be expected to work across different sites
  • To meet the needs of the service you will be required to carry out key work sessions with clients

Must haves:

  • Good level of maths & written English
  • Ability to plan, manage and prioritise a high workload to meet deadliness
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral and negotiation skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Budget management experience
  • Able to show initiative
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good standard of office administrative practices and procedures
  • Unwavering commitment to confidentiality
  • An excellent understanding of equal opportunities best practice and the implications in managing service delivery

  • Able to self-manage and prioritise
