I am looking for a Deputy Manager to assisting in the running of a fabulous children’s home in Peterborough. The role is working with a small, but expanding company, who provide fantastic support to their staff, and offer a fun, positive and stimulating environment working with people who genuinely enjoy the rewards and challenges of working with children.

Your role will involve:

• Providing a nurturing environment for children / young people in which their physical and emotional needs are met by being a role model
• Assisting the manager to achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose
• Assisting in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive
• Supporting and managing the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people
• Attending childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people
• Ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained
• Deputising in the absence of the Registered Manager
• Working as part of a multi-agency team to achieve optimum outcomes for young people

For this great role you must have:

• Diploma / NVQ 3 in Children and Young People Workforce (or equivalent)
• Be working towards Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management / Children, Young people and Families Manager
• Knowledge of the Children’s Act and other relevant legislation
• Supervision Skills
• The ability to manage teams effectively
• The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
• An understanding the needs of BESD children including managing challenging behaviour
• Excellent organisational skills
• The ability to motivate staff
• At least 2 year’s relevant professional experience working with young people in a residential setting
• A full clean manual driving license held for at least 1 year
• The ability to work to a shift pattern and undertake sleep-ins
