Our client is a charity based in Northallerton aimed at supplying good quality used furniture and electrical items to people on low income and those in need of affordable household items.

They require someone to work as part of a team with excellent driving and navigational skills to assist with the running of this busy charity. The post holder should have good communication skills and have a friendly approachable and professional manner when dealing with customers and the public. They will also be involved in operating the store on alternate weekends so will need to be able to effectively maintain the administrative side of sales.

The role includes driving a van, heavy and light manual furniture lifting, route planning, and effectively maintaining delivery and collection manual records on a daily basis. You will be expected to respect customers’ privacy and also work closely with the Sales and Administrative Assistant to ensure an efficient and professional service is provided to all customers.

You will be required to have a clean driving licence, good personal interactive skills, confidence in dealing with the public and knowledge of the local area. You should have some experience of manual handling, administration, clear communication skills on the telephone and in person and ideally cash handling.

The hours of work are Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10am – 2pm, Tuesday & Thursday 10am -4pm, plus 4 hours on either the 2nd or 4th Saturday per month. Flexibility and the ability to work additional hours as required would be an advantage.
