Wild Berry Associates are working alongside London Ambulance Service to find a Band 5 Data Officer within their Clinical Audit & Research Unit.

You will be Working in the Clinical Audit and Research Unit, the Data Officer will manage one of the LAS’ clinical registries through data collection, input and quality assurance. The Data Officer will be required to produce routine reports and information about clinical and operational performance that will be used by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to inform and enhance patient care. In addition, the Clinical Data Officer will support and partake in related clinical audit
and research activities as and when required.

Your main duties will include:

  • Liaising with the LAS Management Information department for the transfer of core data fields from the emergency 999 call log and patent records.
  • Extract and input data into the Database from the emergency 999 call log and patient records to include clinical, performance and operational information. Interpret recorded information to determine the care that was given to patients and translate cases where documentation is readily codable.
  • Produce the Annual Report working with support from CARU’s management team.
  • Present data findings at meetings and to both internal and external audiences at meetings,
    seminars and conferences.
  • Assist on other clinical audit and research projects, as necessary. Tasks may include data
    inputting, sending out information, and travelling to hospitals and other LAS sites to collect
    data.
  • Contribute to the writing and layout of promotional materials for completed research and
    audit reports, such as posters and newsletters.
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality adhering to relevant policy and procedures such as
    the Data Protection Act.

Your Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant area (science or social science) or evidence of academic ability to this level.
  • Experience of working with large complex computerised data sets.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of computer packages including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Able to use persuasion and negotiation skills to agree timetables for the delivery of information with other LAS
    departments and partners from other organisations.
