Curtain Wall Designer

Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per year

Job Description 

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Façade Designer/CNC Programmer to join this well-established specialist curtain walling, doors, windows and screen supplier. 

Our client offer design and manufacture services for high specification glazing systems, including applications for fire, bomb and ballistic resistant. They are a globally respected specialist fabricator and systems supplier based in the UK, working in both the home and export markets.

Main Activities/Responsibilities: 

Producing elevations, sections and details from preliminary design sketches to construction issue drawings. 

Creating high quality general arrangement drawings in AutoCAD, using the most cost efficient way for approval and construction. 

Preparing fabrication drawings for bracketry pressed metal or brought in items, in conjunction with the location drawings.

On receipt of signed off drawing approval, producing CNC files in EluCad software and issuing to production unit for CNC machining operations. 

Producing glass and fixing material schedules.

Liaising with architects and main contractors.

Working to the estimate and project specification. 

Attending co-ordination meetings (internally and externally). 

Working to an agreed project programme. 

Ensuring that work is detailed in accordance with agreed specification & programme.

Producing details with commercial consideration given to products used. 

Other Responsibilities: 

Identifying variations to contract during the design process, and referring back to estimation for quotation revisions. 

Issuing requests for information as and when required. 

Maintaining a register of drawings issued, including date issued and current revision. 

Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement. 

Assisting with the preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals. 

Complying with all Company policies including Health/Safety and Environmental Sustainability Policies. 

Acting as an ambassador/exemplar of the company and embracing/supporting/promoting the Company culture and values.

Complying with any objectives and targets given. 

Complying with all Design Department procedures. 

Training & Development: 

Attending any other internal/external training courses relevant to the position. 

Knowledge/Experience/Attributes: 

Relevant NVQ/HND qualifications.  AutoCAD/EluCad experience.  You will need at least 3 years’ experience within the curtain wall and façade industry – this is a position requirement.  Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. With the ability to communicate professionally (written and verbal)  Problem solving skills.  Ability to research and develop products.  Ability to work alone and within a team.  Time management skills. 

Hours: 9am – 5pm – with 1 hour for lunch Holidays: 22 days per holiday year plus all England & Wales Bank Holidays (8 days
