The role of Craftsperson (Fitter) offers an exciting and diverse array of challenges as well as excellent opportunities for personal development.

 

As Craftsperson (Fitter), you will undertake programmed, post fault and fault switching on the HV and LV networks as appropriately authorised. To include the operation of underground networks and the issue and receipt of appropriate safety documents as appropriately authorised.

 

You will be responsible for ensuring all site works carried out safely, including acting as the nominated person in charge of safety for the duration of all works attended whilst ensuring all network connections are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company policy and safety rules..

 

What you’ll be doing

 

Planning jobs, obtaining materials, vehicles and equipment, you will receive all safety documents, pre-vet jobs which includes risk assessments and liaison with landowners. You will Carry out effective fitting works to ensure delivery of unit cost requirements and to agreed productivity levels.

 

Carrying out of operational switching on the network as appropriately authorised and directed including fault finding and testing, installation of switchgear/plant to comply with asset owner standards and Undertake and develop appropriate skills associated with work on substations that make up the distribution network.

 

Standby duties will also be required.
 

What you’ll bring

 

The successful candidate will be an expert at main trade skill with a sound knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices and who can display a sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.

 

You will be able to discuss your electrical background/expereince within a substation environment and be able to carry out site and operational risk assessments on your team and associated contractors.

 

A track record of awareness of and compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and update them on particular issues as they arise working with your team towards a zero accident culture.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Full valid UK Driving License
  • City & Guilds ll or equivalent electrical qualification
  • Craft/Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent training
  • Full valid driving licence
