Costing / CAD Engineer

08:45 – 17:00 Mon – Thurs, 08:45 – 14:00 Friday

We are recruiting an  Costing / CAD Engineer for our Yate based client. This is an office-based position, and may suit either a college leaver with an Engineering qualification, or someone who has previously worked in a fabrication environment who now wishes to work in an office environment.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Costing / CAD Engineer will be expected to:

• Prepare accurate costs for materials, labour and services
• Input cost data into company database (MS Access & Excel)
• Notice and query differences between estimated and actual costs
• Provide manufacturing steps
• Liaise with both Customers and Shopfloor personnel, via telephone, email and in person
• Maintain all standards of Health and Safety of the Company
• Implement the company’s policies and business objectives

The ideal candidate for the Costing / CAD Engineer

• Must be computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office
• Have the ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Be able to work on their own initiative
• Will have experience of working to deadlines
• CAD experience would be an advantage, although this is not essential as the CAD element of the role can be taught.
• Must be flexible to learn other elements of the business to cover for holiday and sickness.

My client is a small sub-contract engineering business, and as such each employee has the ability to cover another in their absences – this will be required of the successful candidate also.  Therefore giving a varied and interesting role.
The position comes with a mid-level salary, in line with all other employees within the business; as well as a 3 month probationary period.  The company gives a generous flexible holiday entitlement of 33 days, 5 of which are saved for the Christmas Shutdown period.
