The role
The role of the Container Analyst is critical in ensuring availability of packaging for production operations in-plant and returns from customer. Role co-ordinates and manages the pallet inventory, ensures control of damage and repair processes and manages the lease contracts on site in accordance with central MP&L governance. The role reports to the Material Flow Engineer and liaises with the internal LLP to ensure standards. The role of Container Analyst will ensure robust management of the container pools from receipt to production use – ensure availability to support production plans and cleanliness standards as required. Facilitate central pallet pools and manage the financial process for EMC interaction to these central functions. Analysis and management of the inventory and accurate record keeping for asset control with strong use of problem solving skills & techniques where packaging issues arise.
Key Responsibilities
•Ensure 100% availability of packaging for production plan through strong record management and control at goods receipt through to production ownership of packaging standards. Control containers and stillages; analyse and resolve packaging issues
•Manage packaging data – repair, asset inventory, packaging loops for volume change and invoices for lease
•Ensure 100% sign off of packaging design by all and manage the PFEP (Plan for Every part) packaging data – Annual physical inventory and environmental reporting.
•All decant standards from incoming receipt into line-side design are documented and ensure quality standards
•Manage MHE contract with still supporting central team – quantity, type, budget and operations standards: SOS checks, safety and maintain high standards
•Maintain accurate KPI’s supporting departmental objectives including plant measurable data for scorecard (for example damage pallet costs, lease cost/ engine, pallet WIP/ inventory)
•Owner on site for the 3rd party (Chep / Gefco) contracts – Monthly reporting, supplier alignment and invoices. Ensure 100% compliance with T&C’s.
•Pallet cleaning process flows; ensure standard documented and adhered to for all pallet movements in line with EMC policy. Flow is in line with requirements, audits in place for incoming and in house actions align to ensuring the standard.

Skills & Experience
As a Container Analyst you will require the following skills and experience:
•Good operational and control background in a warehouse environment, ideally with reverse logistics skills within manufacturing or FMCG environment.
•Ability to analyse data and provide clear reporting and action plans to drive target driven goals (KPI management). Make good judgment decisions in a demanding environment have strong communication skills
•Develop cross functional relationships and procedures to ensure compliance to packaging standards. Manage stakeholders effectively, monitor trends and results and drive for improvement
•Engineering skills to support pallet design buy off and drive pallet damage reduction.
•Experience of MH equipment – design and contract management with a key focus on behavioural safety.
•Can demonstrate strong numerical and analytical skills in data control and inventory management with robust understanding of production and container flows.
•Ability to work in fast paced environment and to tight deadlines
•Can demonstrate the ability to make decisions quickly, sometimes in demanding situations and manage changing priorities.
•Must be systems literate and demonstrate analytical skills including knowledge of MS Office and JLR Manufacturing systems. Experience of SAP is desirable
•An ability to communicate across JLR at different levels is essential.
•Strong reporting skills – understands KPI and target driven environment with a cost focus.
•Ideally qualified to degree level, with experience of working in an MP&L or similar environment
