Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA)

We are seeking an individual with proven experience in the legal sector, with thorough knowledge of SRA Rules and Regulations. Working closely with the COLP and the CEO, you will govern and oversee best practice across the business, liaising with stakeholders in all areas of law.
This role involves but is not limited to:
- Ensure firm’s and staff SRA Accounts Rules compliance
- Arranging annual SAR audit and liaising with reporting accountants
- Monitoring and ensuring processes are in place for:
o clearing residual balances
o timely and accurate banking of client funds
o operation of the client receipts portal and other suspense ledgers
o operation of the charity ledger
o closing and archiving of old files
o overseeing client account withdrawal procedures
o monitoring of office to client transfers and error correction
o training of staff on accounts rules and other SRA matters in conjunction with firm’s legal training manager
o maintaining the breaches register and resolution of persistent breaches
o reporting of relevant items to the SRA
- Maintaining appropriate policies and procedures
- Liaising with the SRA on any enquiries or investigations
Requirements:
- Legal and finance background and experience
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Able to manage multiple relationships
- Professional approach
- Strong understanding of the Regulatory framework
- Competent in Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate at all levels across all departments
- High levels of attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in busy periods
