Compliance Manager

Salary: £42,000 – £44,400 per year

A vacancy has arisen in the technical team at this global food packaging business who are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager. You will report into the Technical Manager and work alongside Quality Manager and Quality Supervisor.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for all compliance requirements such as SSC, ISO9001, IS BRC and company certifications such as customer standards. This will include compliance to food safety & legality regulations which will involve managing and maintaining a product testing schedule and liaising with an external laboratory.

* The role will also involve hosting audits, maintaining and improving the audit schedule, coordinating tasks to ensure that the whole site is ‘audit-ready’ every day and providing customers with necessary documentation.

* Collaborating with other sites and other people, it’s important that you can manage other people in the sense of build relationships with external departments and other customers, including building relationships with key contacts, educating and training people in terms of compliance and audits and deadlines

* This is a “stand alone” role within the Compliance team, ensuring that you keep on top of things on a daily basis

* The successful candidate will be expected to build relationships with external customers, suppliers and resources as well as all internal departments; to ensure the highest level of support, proactive leadership and follow-up.

* Assisting with preparing for audits and ensuring the company is ready for audits to be carried out

* Dealing with customer documentation requests

* Hosting the audits

* Managing the audit schedules as well as internal audit schedules, ensuring audits are carried out on time

* Managing external suppliers to ensure they are compliant for on-site legionella programmes

* Managing time and managing schedules for audit paperwork at all times

* Setting up reminders for all audit and compliance paperwork before the renewal dates are overdue

* Testing of products – responsible for schedule and samples and working closely with the Technical Manager

* Liaising and working closely with QA labs

* Carry off-site supplier audits from time to time

To apply you must have experience of: –

* Working in a high-volume manufacturing operation (preferably food service/food production or food packaging) and have had experience of food safety legislation and testing.

* Ideally knowledge and experience of SSC, ISO9001, IS and BRC

* Experience of introducing or streamlining compliance and quality systems and conducting / hosting audits would also be desirable.

* Strong communication skills and experience of dealing with Auditors

* Auditing and liaising with auditors

* The ability to multi-task and set up key reminders for audit paperwork

* Strong IT skills, in particular, Excel, ERP systems, Sedex and customer portals IT

What’s on offer: –

* Circa £35,000 – £37,000 depending on experience – possibly more for the right candidate

* 36.5 per week. 8:30 – 5:30 (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30-4:00 (Friday), with 1-hour unpaid lunch.

* 25 days, increasing to 26 after 1 years’ service and increasing to 27 after 5 years continuous service.
