As Community Liaison Manager for our energy-from-waste facility in Suffolk, part of SUEZ recycling and recovery UK’s contract with Suffolk County Council, you’ll be contributing to an ever-growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment and conserve natural resources by creating a more circular economy.
About the Role
- This position is offered on a 14 Month Fixed Term Contract
- £30,441 – £35,708 + 10% Bonus + Benefits
- The role reports to the Regional Communications Manager and sits within the communications department at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, working closely with the operational team at the facility and Suffolk County Council’s waste team.
- The position will be located at the Suffolk energy-from-waste facility in Great Blakenham, near Ipswich.
What will I be Doing?
- You’ll market and manage our visitor centre, approaching schools as well as community groups of all varieties.
- You’ll lead visits to the energy-from-waste facility and deliver waste minimisation and recycling campaigns, talks, roadshows and schools education programmes, both in-person and virtually
- The role involves organising and facilitating liaison with the local community; circulating information; creating links with local and national initiatives; giving presentations and briefings; and leading education and community outreach activities.
- It’s all about getting our message out there and showing the world what we do – and the difference it makes.
- The Community Liaison Manager is responsible for managing stakeholder relationships in Suffolk, developing and leading campaigns to help the local community understand how waste is being a resource by raising awareness of our work.
- You will support internal communications campaigns to engage and involve the people working at the facility.
- You will also be responsible for ensuring the contract website is up to date and be the first port of call for local press queries.
What are the requirements?
- You will be confident and out-going in nature and be able to engage with and speak to a variety of different individuals, groups and organisations from school children to technical specialists.
- This role has an educational focus and so formal teaching / education related qualification or experience is desirable but not a prerequisite if other relevant experience/transferable skills can be demonstrated.
- You must be able to create, lead or participate in teams for a range of purposes such as organising an event event, rolling out a particular programme, or launching a campaign.
- The ability to generate ideas and initiatives and see them through to fruition is important.
- Good written communication skills are essential, with the successful candidate responsible for writing copy for a range of audiences and channels, such as newsletters, press releases, educational materials, presentations and digital channels.
- The Community Liaison Manager will contribute to the budgeting process and will be expected to manage the activities of the visitor centre within budget, therefore some experience of budgeting or financial management will be of benefit.
