Workplace description: This hotel features a traditional restaurant and stylish rooms with free Wi-Fi. The hotel is situated in Shrewsbury’s historical centre. It has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for its seasonal à la carte menu. There bar offers local ales, modern cocktails, and fine wines. Just a few minutes’ drive from Shropshire’s scenic countryside, the Grade II Listed hotel is a 2-minute walk from the banks of the River Severn. Shrewsbury Pride Hill Shopping Centre is a 10-minute walk away.

Main duties and responsibilities: To assist the Sous & Head Chef in the smooth running of your section and to help in other areas of the kitchen as required.

To assist with the preparation and cooking of food ensuring the highest standard specified by the Head Chef and minimum wastage.

To maintain a high standard of Hygiene and Safety in the kitchen, in line with legislative requirements and Company standards.

To carry out cleaning duties as specified by your supervisor.

Essential criteria: The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of food safety. Any professional cookery qualifications at NVQ Level is an advantage but not essential as training is given on the job to fit our concept. The chef will need to have previous experience working within a professional kitchen.
