Commercial Trading Underwriter

A leading provider of commercial insurance products is looking for a highly motivated individual to join their underwriting team in Yorkshire, focussing predominantly on winning new business and expanding the market share across a number of large provincial and consolidator brokers.
The Role
You will work closely with the development team in the region to identify and nurture a panel of provincial and consolidator broker accounts, focussing predominantly on writing new Commercial/Mid Market business with premiums typically between £10k-£50k as well as some larger.
You will be required to assess and underwrite Commercial Combined as well as stand alone Property and Liability cases, gauging the commercial viability on isolated risks and as wider portfolios to achieve win-win results for both our client and the brokers involved. Whilst there is considerable appetite to write business, it is essential that this is both profitable and sustainable.
You will be comfortable liaising with the broker panel, attending visits in conjunction with the sales team where required to add credibility and a technical point of reference.

The Person
You will be a switched on individual with solid experience of commercial new business underwriting, the role requires a trader, who is also able to write profitable, sustainable business having built a solid industry track record.
Qualifications will be of interest, as will connections within the provincial Leeds/Yorkshire market.
