Commercial/Sales Director (Biotechnology – INTERIM) – South Wales, UK
Basic salary: £72,000 – £78,000pro rata (initially on interim basis with the option of going permanent after 6-12mths)

A new vacancy for a Commercial/Sales Director with rapidly expanding company that is a leading international provider of specialist microbiological products & manufacturing services to the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. This will be a senior management role reporting in to the company’s Managing Director.

The Commercial/Sales Director will be appointed initially on an interim basis with the option of the role going permanent after a period of 6-12mths. The Commercial/Sales Director responsibilities will cover three main areas:
1) Hands-on development & mentoring of the company’s sales/business managers to improve team performance.
2) Reevaluation & improvement of the company’s sales processes to create optimal levels of sales.
3) Strategic business development work to help the company achieve ambitious growth targets.

Candidates should be qualified to degree level in a science or business discipline with a proven track record achieving high levels of business growth in the biotechnology arena. Those who are able to demonstrate the ability to mentor, motivate and develop small sales teams in an SME environment will be of particular interest. This will be a hands-on role involving international travel with the Commercial/Sales Director expected to accompanying business development managers on overseas trips on a regular basis. Key markets will include Food, Pharma and Fine Chemical so experience developing business in at least one of these markets is essential. Although the company can be reasonably flexible on location, a certain amount of time will need to be spent at its head office in South Wales (up to 3 days per week when not travelling). The successful candidate will be joining a fast-growing biotechnology firm in an exciting area of science, and will be given every opportunity to make a real impact on the business.
