The client:
Listgrove is supporting a manufacturer of specialist materials whose products are used across many market sectors and are supplied to plastic moulders across the UK, Europe and beyond. They are now looking to recruit a talented Colourist to add to their existing team.
The Role:
* Safe use of laboratory equipment necessary for completion of assigned tasks.
* Compound, process, finish and test colour masterbatches, dispersions and compounds.
* Working to agreed procedures, instructions and standards.
* Develop and assist in implementation of ideas for continuous quality improvement in area of responsibility.
* Perform pre-manufacture tests and issue formulas to production.
* Liaise with other departments/colleagues with regards to projects.
* Ensure clarity regarding all relevant design parameters leading to the design of a product to meet the customer requirements.
* Accurately scale formulae to the quantity required for evaluation.
* Accurately test product formulations to set colour specifications and to determine physical property criteria.
* Replenish laboratory raw material stocks from warehouse or production inventories, recording where necessary materials taken.
* Adhere to proper operating and safety procedures as well as reporting any equipment problems or unsafe working conditions.
* Ensure all clerical duties relating to the completion of laboratory assignments according to procedures laid down in the Quality Manual.
* Ensure equipment is cleaned after use and lab area is clean and tidy on completion of shift.
* Assist in training of colleagues as necessary.
* To be involved in Customer visits as required.
* Provide Technical assistance as required.
Skills/Qualifications:
* A recognised qualification, ideally in a technical subject.
* BSc or MSc in a science subject preferred.
* Experience working in a laboratory and formulation post.
* Microsoft office experience
* Able to prioritise, work under pressure as well as use your own initiative.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* High level of accuracy and observation with a desire to continually improve in all areas of work
