Salary: £14.4 – £18 per hour
We have been appointed by our cleint, a world class manufacturer of engineered products supplied to global markets within the Chemical, Power Generation, Oil &; Gas, Water and Healthcare sectors.
They are looking to appoint a CNC Programmer on a long term basis.
Requirements for Job Role
– Apprentice Trained
– HNC in mechanical/production engineering
– Programmed Modern FANUC controls
– Using CNC Programs and managing the programs for the shop floor.
– CAD experience – Siemens NX 8.5/AutoCad.
– Modelling in Siemens NX 8.5
– CAM experience – Edgecam or Mastercam (or similar).
– Experience of simulation software i.e. Vericut. (or similar)
– Sap experience – if not exposure to producing Manufacturing Routings
– Tool Selection – working with the operators and tooling suppliers to choose the most appropriate tooling for the process and the program.
– Researching of problems and providing solutions to shopfloor actions.
– Lean manufacturing environment – some involvement would be useful
Responsibilities
Programming
Run all aspects of programming Horizontal Boring Machines and Vertical Turning Lathe with FANUC programming language. Provide programmes to the machines, manage the DNC and programme storage areas.
Experience of Milling with Heidehain conversational programming would be an advantage.
Read the drawing and interpret the dimensions, check the castings/forgings to ensure enough material and best methodology to machine, write the programme accordingly.
Tooling Selection
Work with the operators and the tooling suppliers to ensure the correct tools are available for the work being undertaken.
Work with the operators and tooling suppliers to improve on the way we machine components be introducing new methods and new tooling. If the tooling doesn`t exist, work with the suppliers to develop new tools.
Routings and Plannings
Produce accurate times for planned routes based on current machining methods. Collate operations into Reference operation sets (routing Templates), then develop the Route to the jobs for production, populating the route with real planned times for the operators to book to.
CAD/CAM Experience
To use the 2D drawing package to produce programs. Use the CAM package, to post programmes to the machines. Develop a new CAM package (could be EdgeCam or Mastercam) to advance drawing/model to program to Post processor for the machines. Develop Programs and fixturing systems – run the program through a simulation software to proof the program prior to release to the shop floor.
