Client Development Manager
Job Description
An award-winning, modern-thinking and successful law firm in Exeter are looking for someone to join their Client Services Team, as a Client Development Manager. This role will play a key part of the growth of the business, as well as the ongoing cohesive nature of the different teams within the firm. This person will play a pivotal role in acquiring new clients, identifying opportunities to expand services to existing clients, and supporting legal teams in business development activities. This newly-created position reports directly to the Head of Transformation and Client Delivery, contributing strategically to the firm’s growth objectives.
Tasks will include:
- Leading business development activities, focusing on both strategic and operational aspects.
- Coordinating and enhancing existing processes, introducing new projects, and driving organic change to win new relationships.
- Acting as the interface between legal teams and coordinating actions related to business development.
- Developing and owning target account plans, managing pipeline discussions, and overseeing action management.
- Conducting sector research and implementing business development and marketing strategies.
- Collaborating with legal teams and department heads to identify new sector/market opportunities aligned with the firm’s growth strategy.
- Representing the firm at internal and external events, articulating key messages, and building and nurturing client relationships.
- Managing the tender and pitch submission process, working closely with legal teams, creative teams, BD/CX Executive, and external suppliers.
- Line managing and coaching colleagues in pipeline management, ensuring process consistency and accuracy.
Skills and experience sought:
- Someone from a Business Development background, although from more of a strategic angle
- You have experience of managing B2B and B2C business development activities
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on providing exceptional client care
- You have experience of managing large teams including coaching, training and mentoring
- You can present information clearly, accurately and with consideration of a range of audiences (verbally and in written form)
- You are highly organised, motivated, accurate, proactive and committed to meeting deadlines while remaining calm under pressure.
- You are used to working in a busy and highly professional driven environment, including being proficient using Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience (with proven success) of business pitches and public sector tenders would be an advantage.
