Cleaning Supervisor (Student Accommodation)

The portfolio has grown to 5,354 beds at 14 operating student accommodation schemes nationwide. Each site is managed by an accommodation team with support from a central team based in central London. 

Position: Domestic Supervisor 
Location: Shoreditch, London 
Job type: Part time, permanent 
Hours: 30 hours per week Monday to Friday, start 8am and finish 2:30pm with ½ hour for lunch. Some overtime will be required from time to time. 
Salary: £26,000per year; full time equivalent would be £18,124. 

ROLE: 
The Cleaning Supervisor will oversee and provide a cleaning service that will enable the building to be maintained to a high standard of quality and cleanliness at all times. Including the following areas: the general office, heavy traffic areas in reception, lifts, internal windows stairwells and stairs, laundry, corridors and landings, 24 common rooms, communal wc`s, external areas and pathways. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
a) Organise the Domestic Assistants in their daily duties. Ensure iQ cleaning standards are fully adhered to and monitor performance by conducting regular inspections. 
b) Prioritise cleaning duties on-site. Assist the Accommodation Manager in preparing cleaning schedules on site. 
c) Oversee any external cleaning work on site and carry out performance inspections as necessary. Conduct monthly stock checks and assist the Accommodation Manager in stock orders. 
d) Oversee any external contract cleaning work and inspect performance. Monitor and report to the Accommodation manager the performance of the domestic assistants including timekeeping, attitude, quality and speed. 
e) Carry out cleaning tasks in accordance with the Building Cleaning specification such as vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting and wiping of all designated areas. Deep clean carpets and hard floors with specialist floor cleaning machinery. 
f) Summer deep cleans of student flats, including shampooing carpets, degrease kitchens, defrost fridges freezers, de-scale all sanitary ware. Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles, transporting waste material to designated collection points. 
g) Maintain a safe and secure working environment and comply with Health and Safety at work regulations. 
h) Ensure that for each task the relevant cleaning materials, equipment and safety signs have been organised. Clean equipment regularly and store safely after use in conjunction with COSHH regulations. 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 
a) Previous cleaning experience. 
b) Working knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH. 
c) Ability to work with minimum supervision and exercise initiative. 
d) Problem solver; undertake physical work including lifting. 
e) Good verbal and written communication skills. 
f) Evidence of skill based training. 
g) Deliver high levels of customer service at all times. 
h) Be available for overtime. 

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 
a) Working knowledge and experience of using carpet cleaners, wet vax and buffing machines. 
b) Relevant COSHH certificate. 
c) Desirable to have COPC (Cleaning Operative Proficiency Cleaning) or equivalent in Hotel, General Office or Housing Cleaning qualification.
