Classic Car Mechanical Technician

Salary: £27,600 – £31,200 per year

Our client is one of the UK’s leading classic car restoration companies. They are looking for either an experienced classic car technician, or someone with similar experience and a keen interest who can pick up the role quickly.

THE ROLE

• Classic car mechanicals (carburettors, brakes, transmissions, steering, suspension, electrical etc)
• Engine building, rebuilding and fault-finding – typically petrol V4 and V6 engines, including camshaft timing techniques, head skimming, plastigauging and so on
• Restoring interiors, trims and brightwork
• Machining (manual lathe and milling machines particularly)
• Test driving and vehicle assessments
• Being able to sketch parts on disassembly, understand technical and exploded drawings and work with translated workshop manuals (when available)
• Stripping, cataloguing and storing parts
• Maintaining quality control and keeping evidence of work done for reference, future estimating or marketing material
• Reporting on work done and time taken for invoice generation and record keeping
• Main dealership experience will be considered
