Class 2 Driver

Salary: £32,400 per year

We are recruiting for a full-time Class 2 driver to join one of our long-term client’s team on a permanent basis from the beginning of September in Melksham. However, the client is moving premises to Calne from October/November time, so you must be able to get to this location.

As a professional Class 2 driver. you will be responsible for the delivery of palletised goods to customers in a safe and timely fashion, whilst taking into consideration driving laws and Health and Safety.

Applicants must have exceptional geographical knowledge, knowledge of tachographs and be familiar with a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Performing regular vehicle checks
• Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle
• Ensure that all paperwork is completed correctly
• Customer collection must only be completed when prior authorisation has been agreed
• Ensure that all delivery notes are signed by the customer or in their absence by you with a date and time of delivery
• Report any faults with the vehicle to the Transport manager
• Supervise all deliveries (loading and unloading)
• Work in the warehouse/yard if/when required
• Conform legal requirements of hours travelled and break requirements
• Make sure that the pallet truck is secured when in transit

This position will require drivers to have the occasional night out. So you must be willing to commit to staying away when needed.

Working hours are full-time, with most days starting between 4 am-6 am. You must have a clean licence with a miniumum of 1 year driving class 2 vehicles and be over the age of 25 (Insurance purposes) with no previous bans. Full CPC and tacho card

A good level of fitness is required due to the nature of this position and the tasks required.

Salary is £32,400per annum which will increase subject to completion of 6-month probation
