Our client is a leading Engineering firm with a very strong presence in Defence and Nuclear sectors. They provide a range of services and expertise to their clients ranging from Design & Analysis, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety & Reliability and Project & Programme Management.
They are continuing to expand and they are looking for ambitious individuals to join the company. As a business they are very focussed on career progression and professional development.
They currently have two positions for Chief Mechanical Engineers to be based in the Bristol and Reading offices. The successful candidate will hold technical management and team leadership responsibility across a diverse range of projects.
Role description
Your key responsibilities as one of the technical leaders in our organisation will include the following:
Providing advice, leadership and support to colleagues at all levels to help solve technical engineering problems
Generating conceptual design schemes together with technical specifications
Engagement with engineering teams and being closely involved in the full design process from concept through to detail design
High level review and approval of designs, calculations, reports and engineering drawings
Advising and providing leadership on developing technical governance procedures
Ensuring client satisfaction by management of the technical quality of deliverables through review and approval
Requirements & skills
The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following;
Deep technical expertise in mechanical design engineering, together with an in depth understanding of engineering principles
Demonstrable experience of developing engineers
Direct experience in taking responsibility for design sign-off
Able to demonstrate creativity and experience across the design lifecycle in at least one of the following applications:
Mechanical handling equipment
Nuclear Steam Raising Plant
Large movable structures
