Job description :
This is a UK based contract and as such, you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Evidence of your Right to Work will be checked prior to interview.
An experienced senior advisor with a good grasp of current science and its application in the field of climate change, you understand the importance of creating a world where people and wildlife can thrive together. That is why this role as Chief Advisor for climate change issues with the world’s leading independent conservation organisation is perfect for you. As a member of the WWF-UK Science team you will help ensure we are recognised as a science and evidence-based organisation with our conservation work and communications always informed by the latest scientific thinking.
As Chief Advisor you will provide thought leadership on climate change issues and ensure we are engaged with and using the most up to date climate science. You will provide strategic direction to the breadth of work we undertake and contribute to our wider strategy, strengthening the rigour of, and in some cases leading, interventions, helping identify and then fill knowledge gaps and providing the evidence underpinning policy positions. You will also act as a primary contact point for WWF-UK with relevant UK government departments, specialists in the private sector, other NGOs and international climate bodies. You will use this position to influence policy and channel information from government, the private sector, the research community and specialist networks into the organisation.
To play your part in saving our planet, you must hold a relevant qualification (a PhD is preferable), and/or equivalent experience in this field. You will have operated as a senior adviser or lead specialist in the subject of climate change and will be able to demonstrate excellent up to date knowledge in this area and how this can be applied to solve real-world challenges. You will also possess a good grasp of current science and policy debates internationally, coupled with experience of providing strategic leadership to organisations and programmes.
Effective at influencing key political and business stakeholders and shaping policy debates, you will have excellent communication, presentation and advocacy skills. Good at building relationships, you will be comfortable working in a range of cultural environments and international contexts. You will have a track record of high impact presentations and written outputs to a variety of audiences.
If you have the knowledge to provide scientific expertise and advice across our organisation to help us build a movement in defence of nature, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the link and apply via our website by submitting a copy of your up-to-date CV and Supporting Statement to highlight what makes you a good fit for us.
