Job Description

Tradebe are looking for a Chemist Supervisor for our expanding team at Fawley, Hampshire.

Main purpose of job:

  • To perform all duties in accordance with Legislative requirements and the Company’s objectives, maintaining and improving performance in the areas of Safety, Quality and Environment.
  • Ensure the team is run in an efficient manner, making sure priorities within the department align with that of the site and wider company.
  • Oversee that incoming waste is checked for accurate invoicing and allocation of disposal routes, meeting safety requirements effectively without adverse environmental effects.

The role

  • Ensure that all activities on Site are carried out with the highest regard to safety in line with Company Safety Policy, legislative requirements, and written procedures and work instructions.
  • Report all incident and/or injuries on site as stated in the Incident/Injury Procedure.
  • Ensure high levels of housekeeping on site are maintained.
  • Reception of non-bulk wastes, checking and completing documentation/Consignment notes, identifying hazards and precautions
  • Checking & Routing non-bulk wastes
  • Sampling of non-bulk wastes
  • Allocating storage locations in line with Site Storage Philosophy
  • Updating Sales Orders & moving them to invoice status
  • Updating of stock control systems

  • Amend and/or prepare process programmes for HTI
  • Prepare stock movement lists (SSP & HTI Feed Supply)
  • Stocktaking of waste & enter throughputs onto stock system
  • Prepare Daily Revenue Report
  • Resolving queries with TAD and Operations and raising reports when required.
  • Cover Waste Acceptance Manager as required
  • Prepping & processing priority & problematic hazardous wastes
  • To liaise with Operations, Management, Laboratory Staff, Customer services and delivery drivers.
  • To undertake duties and responsibilities as laid down in procedures
  • Line management of Site Chemists
  • Prioritise sorting of loads and providing metrics associated with it
  • Prioritise the processing of waste materials
  • To manage and record holidays and other absences including allocation cover for roles as needed
  • Write, review and update procedures

The person

  • Degree, or equivalent, in Chemistry or a closely related subject.
  • Waste experience
  • Numerate, literate and computer literate.
  • Knowledge of H&S and Environmental legislation as related to the Company’s activities.
  • Ability to understand and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Chemical problem solving skills.
  • Good communication, organisation, and team building skills.
